Cabbage salads

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Chef’s knife or mandolin
  • Grater (optional)
  • Small bowl for dressings
  • Whisk or spoon

Ingredients
  

  • 1 medium head of cabbage green or purple
  • 2 medium carrots shredded or julienned
  • 1 bell pepper optional, thinly sliced
  • 1 apple optional, diced
  • Fresh herbs optional, like parsley or cilantro
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Dressing:
  • ½ cup mayonnaise or vegan alternative
  • 1-2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or honey optional, for sweetness
  • 1 tablespoon mustard optional, for tang
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Shred the cabbage and prepare other veggies.
  • Prepare the dressing by whisking together the ingredients.
  • Toss the cabbage, veggies, and dressing in a large bowl until well coated.
  • Chill for 30 minutes or serve immediately.

Notes

Make it Spicy: Add a pinch of chili flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the dressing for a spicy kick.
Sweeten It Up: If you like your cabbage salad a bit sweeter, consider adding chopped fruit like apples, raisins, or pineapple.
